Go Where I am Led (8.30.17)
I’m on a writing retreat with me, myself, and I. I had planned to work on my ebooks, how to sell my board books, and write some musings articles. My goal is peace and quiet. No TV. I’ve been on a sabbatical from FaceBook for almost 3 months. I listen to the Universe, trust, and follow the lead. I have heard of TED Talk but am not that familiar with the platform. Somehow I was led to experience an inspirational TED Talk by Theo E.J. Wilson discussing his experiences as an undercover black man in the Alt-Right. After hearing his amazing story and professional presentation, I searched
TED Talk for any information related to “sexual abuse.” I discovered Ashley Judd’s TED Talk about how online abuse of women has spiraled out of control which I highly recommend to mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and aunts to educate ourselves about how to educate and protect ourselves and our young girls during this Internet/Social Media Shit Show. I fell in love with Ashley Judd in A Dolphin’s Tale and the Tooth Fairy, but I fell harder for her during the Women’s March. Holy shit! Her interpretation of 19 year old poet Nina Mariah Donovan’s “Nasty Woman” is legendary. Watch, learn, and grow so that we can arm our daughters, granddaughters, sisters, and nieces with weapons of self-preservation! We also need to educate our sons, brothers, grandsons, and nephews to be leaders and not perpetrators or bystanders of violence against anyone. Abuse is unacceptable in any form regardless the gender of the perpetrator or the victim. Education and awareness are the keys to unlocking this unacceptable dysfunctional behavior. May the Force be with us.
