Do Millennials Read eBooks? (4.21.17)
As an independent author and self-publisher, the road to success is bumpy, but it feels like I am driving in the dark, downhill, through pot-holes, blind-folded. I have spent $5,000 in the past 5 months to market my 2 ebooks Loblolly, Loblolly, You’re So Talland Vegetable Chatter which cost $3.99 each. I have sold 8 copies of the books to date. Let’s do the math – Apple and Amazon take 40% of the sales which means that I make 60% of the retail price which comes to a total of $19.15 for 8 books. When I shared the numbers with a young man who is a nail technician/friend he said, “That’s great!” My teeth are still on the ground from hearing this incredibly positive statement of support. Fortunately, he sees the glass full with one drop. Gheez Louise! I know you have to spend money to make money, but who’da thought that I could spend so much to receive so little in return. Where the heck are all of the millennials that eat, breathe, and sleep technology? Do they read? Do they have children?? Do they read to their children?!? For the love of Pete, somebody help me!!
