STEP 8: Invite your ancestors into your consciousness this week and at the ceremony. Sexual abuse is understood by the professionals (hmm…), misunderstood by the majority of people, and discussed only in the privacy of clandestine social media circles. Our ancestors are on the other side of the veil. They can help us and in turn we can help them. They know and can see the big picture. Ask them for guidance. Ask them for support.
Once our secret – that word alone makes me want to kick and scream because as a child, teenager, and young adult I wanted no part in “the secret” – came out into the open, my mother wondered if her mother was ever abused based on her peculiar behavior. My grandmother would never ride in a car outside of her small town and she never went to the town that she grew up in that was located 20 minutes away.
It takes great courage to break negative behaviors and negative energetic patterns in our family systems. We are releasing the pain/shame cycle and this healing will ripple across generations of our ancestors. This ceremony is about me and you first and foremost, however we are all connected, therefore the ceremony is also about your ancestors and relatives – the good, the bad, and the ugly.
