Loblolly, Loblolly,
You’re So Tall

“I LOVE this book. The illustrations are beautiful. After my first reading, I initially thought what a wonderful lesson these ambassadors of nature can teach us humans young and old to be strong but still flexible, to be independent but still connected. Those are traits all parents want their children to value. Your descriptions made me feel like I just spent some quiet alone time outside watching the trees. Thank you for that feeling of escape from this busy life! If only we took the time each day to study and appreciate our surroundings. Your book has a calming effect when read that would help my very active three-year-old settle down, especially at bedtime.”

“Loblolly, Loblolly, You’re So Tall is a captivating and illustrative story directed toward young readers. It paints a picture of a beautiful outdoor scene, focusing on a cluster of loblolly pine trees. The story, complimented by a series of vibrant pictures, pulls the audience in and makes them feel closer to nature. Its descriptive narrative and use of figurative language creates a calming tone, making it a perfect bedtime story. Although geared towards children, Loblolly’s poetic imagery and the simplicity of its storyline will appeal to readers of all ages. Even as a 23 year old, I loved the book and found it easy to connect to the words and pictures. I can’t help but have a greater appreciation for the backyard loblolly trees I overlooked many times before.”

“Mommy Moo Moo’s Loblolly, Loblolly, You’re So Tall is a lovely book for young readers that parents will enjoy sharing with their children over and over again. This homage to the gentle loblolly introduces children to the sturdy and protective tree that provides a sheltering canopy for other small plants and is home to various animals. The book highlights the tree’s resilience and clustering tendencies in order to guide young readers into a consideration of values such as independence, friendship, and grace. The tree’s aspirations towards the skies and its firm rootedness in the earth remind us of the need to aim beyond ourselves while still remaining grounded. The book’s words are accompanied by the beautiful art of Dave Hill, whose illustrations are marvelous in detail and color. Young readers will especially enjoy noticing how the illustrations translate the words into images that are soft, inviting, and sometimes whimsical. Loblolly, Loblolly, You’re So Tall ends upon ‘a sign of welcome’ that is an apt invitation for readers to re-enter its pages and explore its many details again and again.”

Loblolly, Loblolly, You’re So Tall is a children’s story of Nature at its best. Richly illustrated with images that every child can identify, this book can create a link between a walk in the park and the reading of the story. The story of the Loblolly allows for simple enjoyment by the younger children and questions of ‘how’ and ‘why’ from the older readers. Like most good children’s books, you get something different from the book each time you read it.”
